TCS Open 10K 2016
This was on 15th May 2016.
Because I completed last almost same time as the previous one also and I wanted to run in 75 minutes or less I started practicing differently. It was more or less walking on weekdays and running on weekends. Without running speed could not be improved. As I could not run continuously So I combined both running and walking when I was in running mode. For last month I replaced last 4 rounds of walking with running. Basically running was combination of running and fast walking.
When Registration opened I did.
This time registration was same as last year. I registered for the event and collected the BIB from Kanteerva stadium. This also included a timer chip which keeps track of time. The timer chip like the last years was RFID based and it was attached to the bib. The timing starts when we reach the starting mat. The timing gets recorded when we go over the mats at selected places and also at the finish line. The timing is stored in the server. This time the staring time for the race was 6.00 AM. Based on the last years timing we were put in different groups and I was in group E as I had taken 70-80 minutes in the previous race. My bib number was 8976.
On the 15th I started towards the stadium with my son Aditya starting at around 4.35 AM and reached Kanteerva stadium at around 5.I joined the queue at around 5.10 and upto 6.00 we did warm ups. I started when we our time came. The persons started from A then B and then C upto F ( there were 6 gates for entries and I have entered the stadium for E) The order really did not matter as it was based on start time ( from the starting mat) to the final mat time.. I maintained fairly with a good speed in beginning and speed ckept reducing. It was a combination of both walk and run and went well for around 6 kms. Then for last 4km I maintained fairly uniform speed till the end. I had water, orange juice In the way. I was able to finish time race at a good pace. From the clock I knew that I had taken around 70 minutes. I then proceeded to refreshment area and collected the medal. Then I exited through the west gate and Aditya reached there in some time. I crossed over and from the state bank of Mysore we proceeded a little and where the vehicle was there. We reached home around 8.30. My timing was much better this time 1.06.46.
I plan to run next time also and should be do well enough to beat under 75 minutes again and better perfomance is not being looked into.

TCS Open 10K 2015
This was on 17th May 2015.
Because I completed last 2 times 88 minutes and 79 minutes respectively I wanted to run this year too and so practised walking same that is 20 to 25 minutes each day and walking aound 4 km on the weekends generally once. This was more for keeping stamina and not much about timing. I was pretty confident of finishing in 90 minutes.

registration was same as last year. I could provide a timing
certificate for the same (in last 2 years for 10k or above) and I had one I
provided the same. Based on that my registration was done.

maintained fairly with almost a constant speed for around 4 km and then I slowed down and speeded. The speed was good and my speed dropped after 6kms. I had water, orange and enegy drinks in the way. I was able to finish time race at a good pace. From the clock I knew that I had taken around 79 minutes plus/minus 30 seconds. I then proceeded to refreshment area and collected the medal. Then I exited through the west gate and Aditya reached there in some time. Then we went opposite to Vittal Mallya hospilal where the vehicle came We returned home. In the
mean time I got the timing information from www.procamrunning.in and it was 1hr 18
minutes and 52 seconds that was one minute improvement over last year.
I was
happy to finish the race with a better time.
I plan to
take part in next year event and should target to fininsh the 10k in less than 75 minutes.

TCS marathon 2014
Because I completed last time in 88 minutes I wanted
to run this year too and so practised walking
same that is 20 to 25 minutes each day and walking aound 6 km on the
weekends generally once. That is one of
the days of the week end. It was either up to Wipro or Total Mall in Sarjapura and then around the
lake . I made preparation without bothering much about timing.
When Registration opened I did. This time
registration was different from the last year. I could provide a timing
certificate for the same (in last 2 years for 10k or above) and I had one I
provided the same. Based on that my registration was done
I registered for the event and
collected the kit from Indoor stadium Koramangala on 9th May. This
also included a timer chip which keeps track of time. The chip was attached to
the bib. The timing starts when we reach the starting mat. The timing gets
recorded when we go over the mats at selected places and also at the finish
line. The timing is stored in the server. This time the staring time for the
race was 6.20 AM. Based on the timing we were put in different groups and I was
in group F as I had taken more than 80 minutes in the previous race. My bib
number now was 15448.
On the 18th
I started towards the stadium with my son Aditya starting at around 5.00 AM and
reached Kanteerva stadium at around 5. 40 I joined the queue at around 6.00 and upto
6.20 we did warm ups. I started when we our time came. The persons started from
A then B and then C upto F ( there were 6 gates for entries and I have entered
the stadium for F through the gate number F) The order really did not matter as
it was based on start time ( from the starting mat) to the final mat time.. I
maintained fairly with almost a constant speed and after around I
kilometer water was being distributed I collected water and kept running. After
around 3 kms we got energy drink and I collected and proceeded. I kept running
at a good pace till the end though I was slight slow in the 2nd and
3rd phase. Thus I was able to finish time race at a good pace. I thought that I had finished the 10k in around
80-85 minutes approximately this was
based on my watch. Then I proceeded towards the refreshment area where
refreshment as provided along with the medal for completion of the Race. In the
mean time I got the timing information from www.procamrunning.in and it was 1hr 19
minutes and 52 seconds. I collected the medal and Then I proceeded to the exit
gate, Then I went opposite to Vittal Mallya hospilal where Aditya came. Then we
walked to the vehicle and returned home. You can find more details about my
running from http://www.timingindia.com/results_page.php
by putting my bib number that is 15448 under open 10K category.

I was
happy to keep my commitment of improving previous years performance by 5
minutes
I plan to
take part in next year event and should target to fininsh the 10k, I am not
planning for any improvement. Target – complete in 90 minutes or better.

marathon participation in 2013
After
completing the majja run successfully and effortlessly ( I was not
tired after the event) I thought to take part in the 10k un the next
year that is 2013. This was based on facts that I love to walk a lot (
at brisk pace but not running),If I could complete 5.7 K in 85 minutes
by waling I thought why not try the next level that is 10K . 10K
allrignt but not the competitive one Secondly the 10k was timed by using
chips and I could get an exact timing if I could finish in stipulated time limit next time.
Thirdly the target to complete the goal should motivate me in in walking
as it is a hobby as well and even if I failed
To
keep me fit I walk around 20 to 25 minutes a day and as my target was
to complete 10k I started walking from home (Bellandur) to Wipro
(Sarjapura) on the week end at least once a week. The distance is
around 3km so to and from distance is 6km. After some months I changed
the route but made sure that I did have a regular walk.
I registered for the event and collected the kit from Indoor stadium Koramangala on 11th
May. This also included a timer chip which keeps track of time. The
chip need to be tied to the shoe lace and the timing starts when we
reach the starting mat. The timing gets recorded when we go over the mats at selected places and also at the finish line. And in case anywhere the mat is missed there would not be any timing.
On the 19th
I started towards the stadium with my wife Sujata and daughter Arkaja
starting at around 6.00 AM and reached the at around 6.50. Then I
proceeded towards the gate. After entering the stadium at around 7.10 I
waited for the Race to begin. At that time the competitive race was
going on for MENS category. Then Race for Women started and at around
7.22 The run for 10K started. People started with A group then B and finally C.
I thought that I had finished the 10k in 90 minutes approximately this was based on my watch. Then I proceeded towards the refreshment area where refreshment as provided along with the medal for completion of the Race. the timing was supposed to be available in the afternoon after 2 PM. We returned home and were in the house by 11.30.
then I tried to see the result in the afternoon and found the result and other details at http://www.timingindia.com/results_page.php?category=139 searching with the bib number 6797 and found that I had completed the race in 1hr 27 minutes and 54 seconds that was 2 minutes better than my expected target of 90 minutes.
Here are a few photos for the race from the event ttp://www.marathon-photos.com/scripts/event.py?event=Sports/CPUK/2013/Bangalore%2010K&match=6797&name=Kali%20Prasad
I plan to take part in next year event and should target to fininsh in less than 1 hr 23 minutes ( improvement of approximately 5 minutes)
